Wild Places Photography

Art Gallery, Page 2

The wild lands of these United States are a true national treasure.   We need to protect and preserve their forests, clean water, and open spaces so that future generations can enjoy them.

I hope you like my work.  Please read the info page for more details.   Thanks for stopping in!

Appalachian Mist

Appalachia is a geo-cultural region that stretches from New York state all the way down to Alabama and Mississippi.  There is a lot of history, tradition, and legend in these mountains.   The region has also long been a magnet for outsiders looking either to extract resources destructively, or to transform the place into everywhere else.

Location:  the Appalachian Mountains
Film:  400 color negative, 35mm

This one's an 8"x18" print;  when matted with a 2" border, it goes in a 12"x22" gallery frame.

Neigh!

This photo was made with a Vilia, a very simple 35mm zone-focus camera made in the former Belarussian SSR.  The camera has no light meter and no electronics.  The sepia tone was not added;  it's actually due to the base color of the negative stock.

Film:  Kodak chromogenic black & white, 35mm
