Fall Color 2015

Digital Photos

  2015 October 24   Galleries  Autumn

Most of my "serious" work is on film, but this is a collection of digital images I made along the way.

Sunburst

October 5, 2015
Panasonic DMC-FZ70 @ 20mm equivalent
ISO 100
f/8 (I think) @ 1/125th
Some adjustments

This is proof, to my mind at least, that a bridge camera could be the only camera you need for a photo safari.  At f/8 the FZ70 won't give you the image sharpness of the big DSLR's (diffraction, you know), but a little sharpening in post goes a long way.

Orange + Blue

October 5, 2015
Panasonic DMC-FZ70
ISO 100
f/5.6 (I think) @ 1/250th
Some adjustments

This seems to happen every year:  my favorite picture-- or one of them-- is from the bridge camera.

I have to convert the focal length, but I think this was at least 500mm equivalent.

Waning Sun, 5 October

October 5, 2015
Canon EOS 6D with EF 40mm IS STM
ISO 50
f/8 @ 1/30th
No adjustments

By The Greatness of Thine Arm

October 5, 2015
Canon EOS 6D with EF 40mm IS STM
ISO 3200
f/10 @ 1/100th
No adjustments

A Perfect Day For Red Oak

October 19, 2015
Canon Rebel T6S
with Canon EF 24-105mm IS STM @ 105mm
ISO 200
f/5.6 @ 1/250th
No adjustments

If I had to pick just one Canon lens, this would be the one.  Great image quality, nice bokeh, and affordable compared to their "L" lenses.  The focal length range is not quite ideal for APS-C, but it's really not bad, either.

The Surreality of Sunlit Bark

October 23, 2015
Canon EOS 6D with EF 100mm f/2.8 USM Macro
ISO 100
f/5.6 @ 1/320th
No adjustments

Beneath The Canopies of High Autumn

October 19, 2015
Canon Rebel T6S
with Canon EF 24-105mm IS STM @ 50 mm
ISO 200
f/4.5 @ 1/200th
No adjustments

Red, yellow, and gold leaves on the ground in mid-autumn.  I see blackgum, maple, and what I think is beech here.
